To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for an Senior Engineer to join the team.

Purpose of the Role:

Leading a small team of field quality engineers responsible for all series vehicle programs, representing the voice of the customer within McLaren Automotive Limited’s Operations team. Review all Warranty claims received from the global dealer network, lead internal investigations, ensure immediate containment, and identify opportunities for product improvement either in process, material, or design.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To champion the attainment of Customer Quality business imperative
  • Responsible for overall quality of the vehicle with a particular focus on all claims over 3 months in service (ie. not plant related concerns)
  • Act as liaison between warranty, MPA, Tech Support and other business departments (Engineering, SQA) in order to identify and define quality concerns
  • Lead reviews for key Customer Quality concerns with Engineering, Operations and Quality teams ensuring top trending items for each area are being reviewed and contained.
  • Organise and steer meetings and work groups between all the parties involved in the quality process to mitigate and to clear define next steps for dealing with high risk / cost issues.
  • To lead a team of engineers, providing coaching, supporting career development and taking responsibility for performance reviews bi-annually.
  • To set agenda and collate business feedback of all Customer Quality concerns to Executive level weekly review
  • Look at ways of continuously improving the field quality processes with a focus on: Reviewing of robustness of containments based on warranty data, rolling back of QCR’s and new model support (ensuring warranty data is fed into new model gateways)
  • Communicate product field performance to wider business daily
  • Support and promote McLaren plan at all times
  • To work closely with the McLaren Product Audit (MPA) team and the Quality Operations team to ensure concerns at PDI and 0-3MIS are being channelled through the correct channels in plant.
  • To continually monitor and review existing operational containments remain effective and promote development to full countermeasure
  • To work with future engineering project teams to ensure ‘lessons learnt’ are carried forward to future McLaren vehicle launches ahead of key gateways.
  • Represent Warranty and Field Quality department at daily allocation meeting and oversee the quality of QN’s to allow for efficient allocation and subsequent containment.
  • Take an active role in the continuous improvement of the Warranty and Concern department
  • Lead by example and ensure that whole team work within the McLaren Automotive Ltd ‘Health and Safety policy’ at all times.
  • To attend (Where relevant) dealer visits and customer clinics to ensure we are capturing and prioritising rectification of warranty claims according to customer dis-satisfaction; not only by frequency.

Experience Required:

  • Degree in Engineering and previous experience working in Quality Engineering, Aftersales or Warranty in an Automotive OEM.
  • Previous experience in people management ideal but not essential
  • Comfortable presenting to executive level
  • McLaren product knowledge would be a distinct advantage
