What is SBI PO exam?

State Bank of India (SBI) every year conducts SBI PO exam to select eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officer. A large number of candidates apply for the exam, out of which only a few are selected depending on the number of vacancies. SBI PO is considered the most sought-after banking exam in the country. Successful candidates are posted as Probationary Officers in the various branches of the bank. What’s New in SBI PO 2021?

Every year, SBI PO introduces surprises along with its notification. This year too, surprises will be revealed only after the release of the official SBI PO 2021 recruitment notification.

Just like the previous years, SBI PO 2020 recruitment also came up with some changes in the exam. You can also go through the following major changes introduced under SBI PO 2020 recruitment notification:

1. In the view of Social distancing, SBI has initiated to shorten the Phase 3 selection. Thus, SBI PO Phase 3 will consist of either interview (50 marks) or interview (30 Marks) and GD (20 Marks).

2. Last year, SBI increased the application fees for General/EWS and OBC from ₹ 600 to ₹750, while for SC/ST/PWD, it was ₹ 125. However, this year onwards there isn’t any application fee for SC/ST/PWD category.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 

To apply for SBI PO 2021 exam, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria in terms of age, educational qualification, etc.

Educational qualification: According to SBI PO eligibility criteria, candidates must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Candidates who are in the final year/semester exam are also eligible to apply provisionally subject to the condition that if shortlisted for the interview round, they need to provide proof of having passed graduation. Candidates having a Chartered Accountant (CA) certificate are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years. Age relaxation is given to reserved category candidates as mentioned below.

  • Visit official site’s https://bank.sbi/careers or https://www.sbi.co.in/careers
  • At the end of the page, click on the link for “Current Openings”.
  • Now, click on recruitment for probationary officers.
  • After, that click on the link to apply online.
  • Now, go to the “Click here for New Registration”
  • Enter your valid details such as Name, Email ID & Contact Number.

  • You will get a Registration Number and Password on the screen.

Pre-Exam Training

  • The SBI PO Pre-exam training is usually conducted tentatively 8-10 days prior to the SBI PO Prelims exam.
  • Government officials conduct pre-exam training for the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories or minority groups.
  • SBI PO Pre-exam training is a 6-day program.
  • Only the candidates who have opted for pre-training in the application form will be eligible for the same.
  • Pre-exam training is an orientation program that helps the candidates with their preparation. These are for the students who can’t enroll themselves in coaching centers.
  • The Pre-exam training call letters will be available to download on the official website of SBI.
  • This year it is expected that the SBI PO Pre-exam training may be held online

SBI PO Selection Process 2021

The complete selection process of SBI PO is explained below.

Step 1: Fill SBI PO Application Form

For SBI PO 2021 registrations, candidates first need to fill as well as submit the application form online mode on the official website of the bank. Thereafter, candidates also need to pay SBI PO application fee in online mode via debit card/ credit card/ internet banking.

Step 2: Download SBI PO Admit Card/ Call Letter

Candidates can download SBI PO admit card from the official website of the bank. Separate admit cards are issued for preliminary, mains and Group Exercises and Interview. It may be noted that no hard copy of the call letter is not sent by post.

Step 3: Appearing in the exam

All registered candidates are required to appear for the prelims exam first. The preliminary exam is held for one duration and candidates need to answer questions related to subjects such as the English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Candidates qualifying the Preliminary exam need to appear for the mains exam. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the mains exam. The Mains exam contains both objective and descriptive questions that candidates need to complete in a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Candidates upto three times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for Group Exercises and Interview based on the marks of the mains exam.

Step 4: SBI PO result 

SBI PO result is declared online separately for different stages of recruitment. The result is made available on the official website in PDF format. Candidates can check their qualifying status in the result. SBI PO cut off is released along with the scorecard.

SBI PO Exam Day Guidelines 2021

While appearing for SBI PO 2021 exam, candidates need to follow the guidelines given below.

  • Due to COVID-19, the temperature of candidates will be checked at the entry gate 
  • Wearing of mask is mandatory for appearing in the exam
  • Candidates can carry a transparent hand sanitiser bottle of 50 ml to the exam centre
  • Candidates are required to carry the printed copy of their admit cards, two passport-sized photographs and one photo-identity proof to the exam centre
  • Candidates should reach the exam centre one hour before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card to avoid any delay
  • Mobile phones or any other electronic devices are not allowed inside the exam hall

Candidates need to follow the instructions given by the invigilator at the exam hall
