Ko wai mātou? – Who are we?

The School of Psychology offers a range of specialisations within psychology at graduate level, including programmes which lead to registration as a psychologist. It enables students to study Psychology with significant flexibility to tailor learning and qualifications to suit individual needs. For example Psychology can be taken as a major for the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Science – unlike any other university in New Zealand.

The School of Psychology offers a vibrant and dynamic research environment. In additional to behavioural psychology, our team of 20 academic staff specialises in areas as diverse as environmental psychology, clinical psychology, social and organisational psychology, community and health psychology, as well as cognitive and developmental psychology.

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are seeking a continuing, full-time Lecturer. The specific research area within behaviour analysis is open and could encompass environmental research, animal behaviour, or learning in children and adolescence, amongst other possibilities. A rich understanding of behaviour analysis is fundamental to success in this role. We require a person to supervise our MappPsy(BA) and PGDipPracPsyc(ABA) programmes. Specifically, this role requires the applicant to provide professional supervision, mentoring and teaching to students enrolled in the PGDipPracPsych (ABA).

Ko wai koe? – Who are you?

You will need to have a PhD in Psychology. You will also have:

  • proven expertise in Behaviour Analysis;
  • be registered, or have the ability to register, with the NZ Psychologist Board as a registered Psychologist;
  • a current practicing certificate in Psychology;
  • evidence of ability to conduct and publish quality research.

Prior proven teaching skills at a tertiary level and good organisation, administration and interpersonal skills are also required.
