CIHR offices are located in Ottawa, Ontario; however, CIHR employees are currently working remotely from home. As pandemic measures ease over time, some positions may continue to be carried out remotely. The purpose of these positions is to provide leadership for CIHR’s engagement with key stakeholder communities and partners, in order to support the organization’s mandate to excel in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health care system. Accordingly, the positions support the Director General, Strategic Partnerships and International Relations, in creating and operationalizing strategies, policies, frameworks, programs, and tools to support effective partnerships and engagement between CIHR and its external stakeholders. The Managers are responsible for managing staff, including tracking/oversight of progress against all major milestones and deliverables related to stakeholder engagement, partnership development, global health and/or Institute support. They are also responsible for advancing the perspectives of partners and external stakeholders within CIHR, and for providing strategic advice to senior officials.
• Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in any field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Experience in briefing and providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management (e.g. President/CEO, Vice-Presidents and Directors General)
• Experience in managing human resources and financial resources.
• Experience in developing and implementing effective partnership strategies, including strategic and sustained engagement with critical stakeholder groups;
• Experience in creating policies and procedures in support of external engagements and partnerships;
Experience, Stream 1:
• Experience in the development, implementation, and ongoing management of strategic engagement committees across various stakeholder sectors
Experience, Stream 2:
• Experience in providing advice and supporting materials on international and/or global health research priorities, policies and partnership opportunities
• Knowledge of the Canadian health research landscape including research organizations and activities within federal and provincial government, industry, academic and not-for-profit sectors

Education (Both Streams):
Master’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in Health Sciences, Public Administration, International Relations, Global Affairs, or other field relevant to the work to be performed.
Experience (Both Streams):
• Experience in the development and implementation of performance management frameworks
• Experience leading the implementation of change management within an organization
Experience, Stream 2:
• Experience in the development and implementation of international strategies and action plans
• Experience coordinating visits by international delegations
1) One permanent (indeterminate) position is currently available for each stream.
