Special posting considerations

CIHR offices are located in Ottawa, Ontario; however, CIHR employees are currently working remotely from home. As pandemic measures ease over time, some positions may continue to be carried out remotely. On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, CIHR employees must attest to their vaccination status. Job Summary

Coordinators work in the Program Design and Delivery branch at CIHR. The branch is responsible for all competition design and peer review activities related to CIHR’s grant and award programs. Peer review refers to the process by which applications submitted for funding consideration are reviewed by experts in their respective areas of research and/or research-related activities. CIHR’s peer review process is supported by academic reviewers, as well as non-academic reviewers, such as patients, policy makers in various settings, and community-based representatives.

Coordinators are generally responsible for reviewer identification and recruitment based on expertise needs, peer review meeting logistics, data analysis and reporting, maintenance of files, supporting the tracking of peer review related expenses and preparing decision packages.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, Coordinators also assist senior staff with the preparation of communication and training materials to support reviewers, applicants and staff, provide support for funding opportunity documents and application administration.

Essential Qualifications

A post-secondary education from a recognized institution.

• Experience in analyzing information from various sources and making recommendations;
• Experience in planning, coordinating and/or monitoring projects or files;
• Experience providing administrative or project/program support services, such as preparing agendas or minutes, arranging teleconferences, tracking project tasks, etc;

Asset Qualifications

• Experience working with Indigenous community organizations and/or knowledge of Indigenous cultures (i.e., First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis. )
