The City of Coquitlam is looking to hire Recreation Instructors for our early childhood (0 – 5 years) and school aged (6 – 14 years) recreation programs. This is recreation work involving leadership responsibility for planning, implementing and leading a variety of social, cultural, sport, and general interest activities as assigned by a supervisor. The successful candidates will be responsible for safe and proper use of equipment and facilities and taking independent action and initiative in leading and instructing assigned programs.
Candidates must possess current first aid and CPR certifications. Other applicable certifications such as High Five, ECE certification and NCCP are considered assets. Recreation Instructors will have experience leading recreation programs in a municipal setting and/or the equivalent coaching and volunteer experience.
Early Childhood programming typically takes place in the mornings with some potential for weekends. School aged programming most frequently occurs weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekend mornings and afternoons.
The City offers an hourly rate of $20 – 25 as well as 4% in lieu of benefits. Applicants under consideration will be required to undergo a police security clearance evaluation including vulnerable sector check (and receive a satisfactory report).
